Do You Have Beautician Fatigue?
If "hey love" texts make you sick, you may need to see your doctor.
I felt angry, lethargic, and unhinged at the thought of booking a nail or hair appointment, so I did what anyone does when they’re unsure. Self-diagnosed myself.
And I have beautician fatigue.
Beautician fatigue, or beautician burnout, is when that little voice in your conscious gets louder. Somewhere between rage and confusion, the aha! lightbulb pops up and makes you question where else you could invest your hard-earned money other than to crooked service providers. It asks you if it’s really worth going back and forth with someone trying to cheat you out of $10.
And that’s where I’m at after my wedding.
I paid $150+ for sculpted acrylic set, which typically lasts 4-6 weeks.
Mine lasted two.
I also paid a licensed beautician $700 for a sew-in and later found out that it didn’t include a wash or a blow dry, and I had to buy my own hair for an additional $400. Worse yet, this b*tch used a dirty comb on my head and the style was so tight that I had to take it after 10 days (and it left a bald spot).
What’s crazy is it’s officially an epidemic. Don’t believe me? Try this.
Go to Twitter and type in “unprofessional stylist” or “unprofessional nail tech” and see if you can count how many cities are highlighted by clients.
Every day there’s another client story about beauticians and their bag of tricks. Today, I found a story about a woman who booked with a Facebook hairstylist running a $75 wig install special (don’t fall for these!) and this is what happened:
Then, there’s the endless black hole of TikTokers making content (rightfully so) about shady business practices, outrageous prices and policies, unprofessional services, and piss poor techniques.
Have you been a victim of a beauty nightmare?
