I stopped using Morphe because their palettes have dangerous color additives that could hurt your eyes. What’s worse is Morphe’s not the only business doing it. By “doing it,” I mean selling customers eyeshadow palettes with formulas that aren’t safe for our eyes.
Yeeeeaaaa… let’s talk about it.
Other brands selling pigments not safe for your eyes
In a search for some colorful palettes, I came across Anastasia Beverly Hills NORVINA® Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 6. It has a beautiful color story, but after reading further, I saw that 19 shades are labeled as NOT for use near eyes *. More research showed that the entire NORVINA® Pro Pigment collection has notes flagging certain colors for not being safe for the eyes. Even the Chroma Stix liners had warnings not to use them around the eyes or lips (then where tf are you using them????).

And this begs a few questions.
If it’s not safe for the eyes, why would I put it anywhere else? But also, why even sell something that could hurt customers? How do I use a liner that can’t go around my eyes or lips? Why would
Another brand I found with these warnings was Blend Bunny’s The Lure Palette, which had a note at the veeerrrrrryyy bottom of the description:
WARNING PRESSED PIGMENTS CONTAIN PIGMENTS WHICH ACCORDING TO US LAW ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR USE ON THE EYE AREA. DISCONTINUE IF IRRITATION OCCURS.
Now what?
What’s most frustrating about this is it’d be impossible to know this information if you bought these pigments in-store. To avoid paying for something that may not be safe for you to use, research the palette on the company website before buying.
